Piranesi on the Page

The exhibition was held at the Princeton University Library and featured original volumes designed by Giovanni Battista Piranesi, the foremost printmaker of 18th-century Europe.

Despite usually reproduced as individual prints, Piranesi's drawings were originally bound as books; on Piranesi on the Page, the narratives of how his work was produced, reproduced and shared are highlighted throughout the exhibition.

The customized serif type — a contemporary interpretation of Piranesi’s own typesetting —, the colors and the justified text, with inset images, are articulated in reference to Piranesi's work.
